Results of Remi’s Tower Eviction Re-Trial

This week a re-trial took place in Cologne concerning an eviction of Remi’s Tower barricade during the Cultural Fest in 2015. That eviction resulted in a 3 month imprisoment, 23 day hunger strike and Jus being put under constant suicide watch(basically being awoken every half an hour, through out the nights, to see if he was still alive) for the duration of not accepting food. The police action that led to that has been also symbolic of large repressive actions against single structures like living barricades and compost toilets involving hundreds of cops. These periodic shows of force have taken place over many larger events like Shillshares Camp in the forest. That has not happened on the previous 2 skillshares as they have been planned at the last moment to make planning a large repressive operations more difficult. This upcoming Skillshare Camp _has been_ announced with lots of advanced notice so time will show if another large and expensive action will take place protecting Global Eco-Terrorist RWE and trying to demoralize those who come together to dare, dream and do resist it.

This trial itself was an appeal of an earlier rulling that has levied assault charges as a result of a bulldozer window being cracked and the operator of the machine claiming that he was injured by twisting his head to the side with no medical diagnosis filed or medications taken to back up this claim. This has been a part of an ongoing pattern where many activists have been seriously injured by the secus and then counter accused of having attacked and injured them(with no injuries on their part that are documented) to redirect the public attention from the destructive and violent nature of both RWE’s and Police actions agains Hambacher Forest.
Greater Good otherwise called Necessity Defense, which allows for lesser laws to be broken to prevent a larger crime from happening, was used pointing out to World Health Organizations 2015 Study Raising the number of deaths resulting from airborne pollution asociated with fossil fuels from just over a million to seven million a year. The witnesses testifying against the defendant were asked whether they are aware of this, resulting in the judge at first alowing this question to be asked and then requesting that it be not asked anymore. Also the court has refused to alow an expert to testify on the validity of this study which was ironic as the World Health Organization is made up of the top experts in all fields of Western Medicine and all of its studies are peer reviewed and accepted by the medical community including medical forensic experts. The „authorities“ that could perphaps testify to the validity and bias of this study would perhaps be people like Noam Chomsky, Naomi Klein or Vandana Shiva who could say a word or two about how WHO is full of of experts with Pharma connections and its studdies have allways been biased towards the Petro-Chemical industry, and hence even the 7 million death a year is once again a conservative estimate towards which they have been forced by new particulate detection and effects data. The courts of NRW(NotRWe?) are not likely to listen to either as they are more inklined to accept a self diagnosis from individuals responsible for this situation without having to offer a medical documentation of any sort.
In other words you can detain individuals for several months and put them under abusive observation without any medical proof of their actions One however can not miss a day of work without a doctors note. Prematurely shortened lives of millions also become an externality that is not part of the bussines/court equation and shall not be discussed in polite company.

The outcome of the trial however was that the a fine of 1500 euros has been imposed for the cracked front windscreen of the bulldozer. However the charge of assault has been reduced to attempted assault, and the draconian 3 year probation reduced to probation to the moment of trial.

Letter From Debbie Vincent

Dear Defenders of Nature :)

Your actions against the destroyers of Hambach Forest are an inspiration. I know it has been a hard struggle over the cold winter. I send you love, respect and solidarity from within the walls of prison. Though they incarcarate my body, my heart, mind and soul will always be free.

Being in prison has not dampened my resolve to continue to challange injustices, wrong-doings, wanton destruction of all life and all forms of opression.

I am proud to know wonderful, good people, who are out there trying to make a difference.

What is scary in this world is oppression and injustice, when people hurt people, animals and nature. What is beautiful in this world is resistance, when good people say enough is enough and act. Oppression and injustice are everywhere, but so is resistance. Because some people know that if you fight you may loose, but if you do not fight, you have aready lost.

Activism is the immune system for society ills. Helping to fight the diseases of capitalism: greed, violence, oppression and indifference. We are all part of nature and we must continue to act against the destructive madness, in however small a way, to try to create a better world for all.

I only have 3 weeks left in prison. On the 13th of April, I will be send to a probation hostel, where I will be for 1-6 months. Along with draconian license conditions to stop me from campaigning until 2020. I will continue to challenge what I can and resist.

Skillsharing FlyerAll the friendship, love, support and solidarity I have received over the past 3 years of my incarceration from compasionate, free-thinking individuals from around the world has been awesome and humbling, and very much appreciated – thank you! :)

Thank You to all those from ABC Rhineland and Clima Camp for their solidarity and support postcard @ www.war-starts-here-camp.org.

Sending you all hope and strength, as well as sunshine to brighten your days and smiles to warm your hearts.

You all stay safe.

Lots of love, rage, respect, total liberation, hope and strength and purple vegan hugs of solidarity!

On May 17th, 2014, Debbie was sentenced to 6 years in prison for campaigning against Huntingdon Life Sciences, Europe’s largest animal testing
laboratory. For about a week from this posting you can still send letters to Debbie Vincent, AJ81DE, E1-13, HMP Send, UK. You can also post comments and we can forward them. It is important to support prisoners after their release as readjustment and decompression can be just as hard if not worse then imprisoment and the mental scars of repression do not disapear overnight.

Crappy Justice

The trial concerning the eviction of a compost toilet at Skillshares in 2014 took place in Duren last Tuesday. It concerned locking on to pieces of machinery which slowed down for couple hours the advancing line of riot cops and a front loader heading to destroy the forest latrine of the Meadow Camp. There was a very good turn out with 50 supporters which was too many for the room, with people sitting on the floor. The atmosphere was very close knit with people cuddling. So much time has elapsed since these events that witnesses could not remember the events and some stated that the activists came from the right some saying that they came from the left, one recalling that the face and details of defendant could not be seen while the other said he definitively had red hair [the defendant was not masked during the action and has brown hair]. The persecutor was so unexperienced that the trial had to be periodically paused to call another persecutor to get advice on how to proceed. With interests of the State being so intertwined with that of RWE one could not help wonder who that other persecutor on the other end of the line might have been. The police could not also clearly answer how they identified the defendant and if the person in the courtroom was the same person but were only sure that they did arrest him. In the end no charges were filed but a sentence of 50 hours of community service was given anyway. The judge refused for these 50 hours to be served at the WAA or BUND fur Umwelt Naturschutz(German offshoot of Friends of the Earth) and instead ordered the time to be served at a Food Bank in Duren.

After the destruction of the compost toilet over two years ago more people have been using buckets which have become an object of fear on the part of the secus and toilets have been build high up in the trees.

Secus again using their trucks to run down people -2 Activists Arrested

The 4 different security firms working for RWE around the mine have been attempting to keep people from looking into the mine and from taking photographs. In case of the media this constitutes a polite caution to return to the edge of the forest and not enter the deforested area or attempt to take photos of the mine. In case of the Hambacher Forest Activists entering the same area results in a mad chase with securities attemping to „bag“ an activist. Cars and trucks are used to try to chase people down and pin in them in just like in the case of a forest defender getting hit by the suckurity vehicle, being injured and then arrested for assault during the previous cutting season.

This Sunday in the early afternoon several activists ventured to the vicinity of the mine. They were at approached at first by two secu trucks which were then joined by two more. As if this was an open season on environmental activists: the vehicles begun to rev up their engines loudly, drive madly around the activists and attempt to box them in with their 2-3 tons of steel. When this did not work, some of the secus got out of the trucks and begun to chase the activists on foot through the ankle deep mud, with both sides slipping, sliding, getting stuck and falling as the 4 trucks continued to drive at the activist and attempt to cut them off. During this madness two activists were maced and captured and are being detained, either for trespassing or for any additional stuff that the pigs decide to add on to keep them longer. One of the activists earlier in this cutting season was woken while sleeping in the forest by the RWE’s publicly funded, storm troopers by being beaten and kicked and then was arrested. We can only imagine that experiencing this continual level of physical state instigated violence must make this already shitty experience even more so. Our Solidarity and Support Go Out To Them!!!

You are not alone! We are with You!! FUCK RWE!!

Compost Toilet Eviction Trial 14.03.2017 10:30

Toiletteviction

Düren District Court has now set the trial date for the hearing concerning the actions that took place during the Compost Toilet Eviction over 2 years ago. The date of the process will be the 14th of March in Düren.

Background: During the Skill Sharing Camp of 2014 over 50 riot cops and several pieces of equipment from RWE entered the forest to clear barricades and remove the compost toilets. This action was blocked for many hours by activists locking themselves to the bulldozers, frontloaders and by climbing into the trees in front of advancing equipment.

This trial is reflection of the current trend in the Rhineland of pressing charges against activist who lock themselves to, or block the heavy equipment. It is an attempt to prevent them from engaging in future actions. For this reason lets not forget about those who are being prosecuted and express our solidarity in person and remotely.

Personal Controls have been announced for this trial, meaning that all persons and belonging will be searched and personal information taken in order to enter the courtroom. For those not willing to comply with this there will be the usual outside the courthouse support action with banners, food and info.

CALL FOR ANTI-REPRESSION RESPONSE

Such cases will only repeat themselves with greater regularity and intensity as RWE and other corporate barons carve out the Planet and local jurisdictions into their private domains and as the effect of their actions on the global climate and ecology is distracted by more and more militarized and violent police actions. Here an analogy of the struggle of Zapatistas comes to mind: In the 90s the Mexican State response to the Zapatistas Uprising was massacres of whole indigenous villages. In the Rhineland the forests are massacred outright, the people are moved away but the villages themselves are also destroyed by the bulldozers and wrecking balls. The carnage however of these actions is not just felt by local biodiversity but also already felt by millions affected by climate chaos world-wide and will take a heavy toll on future generations in the global north as well, presently shielded by their privilege.

Solidarity with Bure Anti-Nuke Waste Occupation

BureAs we walk through the Hambacher Forest with new defenses of barricades and ditches build after last friday’s RWE’s secus and police intrusion the news arrives that the same fossil fool monster greed fueled repression has been netted to our comrades in Bure who are resisting destruction of the forest to pave way for more extractionist madness and insanity in the form of nuclear fuel dump. Barricades cleared, secus, police road blocks all sounding so familiar like the all too familiar global destruction of habitats to extract every last bit of poison killing the ecosystems, communities and climate of the planet in the process of lining the pockets of the corporate robber barons.

Hence, to companieros in Bure and all on the receiving end of this assault who are on the barricades, in the treehouses tents and caravans fighting this monster of global capitalist extractionism a loud shout-out of solidarity reverberates from the Forest of Hambach to You.

NODAPL Water Defeners Under Constant Attack

This Monday 1.17 another confrontation has taken place between Water Defenders opposing the North Dakota Access Pipeline and the cops. Rubber encased steel bullets were fired injuring several activists, tear gas was used and 14 activists were arrested. Barbed wire was removed formed into frisbies and thrown back at the cops.Several hour long standoff continued on the Backwater Bridge separating the protesters from the pipeline construction site. The pigs continued to shoot down any drones that were not their own. This repression is taking place while the Republican controlled state assembly of North Dakota is attempting to pass a new law that would make it legal to injure and even kill any pedestrians blocking a road while driving a car. This is obviously directed against Water Defenders who like many ecological activists often blockade roadways and who already have been hit and injured by idiots driving snow mobiles around the protest site. This new law would in effect allow any racist pig-headed vigilante to turn his already destructive and deadly vehicle into even deadlier and now even state sanctioned weapon. This brings up parallels of RWE’s secus also using a truck to ram, injure and then arrest a Hambi activist also with full sanction and approval of the state. Water Defenders are also currently facing Grand Juries forcing them to testify and list their comrades under a threat of imprisonment if they refuse. Regardless many have chosen not to cooperate. This resembles the cases of house searches, home visits and questioning by the german cops as experienced on many occasions by those involved in the anti-coal struggle in the Rhineland. Both are not even as much attempts to persecute as they are tools to intimidate and silence especially in the case of Water Defenders who are facing grand juries in cases dealing with repressive police tactics and their use of force resulting in activist’s injuries. The parallels and similiarities between the two movements come to an end however when one takes into account that none of us in the Rhineland has had to dealt with 400 years of colonialism, genocide and continuing state sanctioned racism and exploitation and its aftermath, 4-5 to 11 years maybe but not 400. Neither are any of us eposed to daily barages of rubber bullets, armored personell carriers and water cannons in freezing weather. In the case of Rhineland and RWE in particular the bullets _are_ flying but they are being shot by right wing hit squads aka crooked cops in places like Columbia against those who refuse to move from their homes to make way for RWE’s coal mines there, the gas is not tear gas but giga-tons of climate killing carbon affecting the global poor in the south of the planet the most, oh yeah there is even freezing water involved as well as antarctic ice shelves turn into mush and slide into the ocean and as the northern ice cover diminishes to the lowest levels ever recorded. Flooding hundreds of millions in Bangladesh, through out the Indian Ocean and beyond. Proving that RWE is just as racist and reactionary in its modus operandi as the rest of its Fossil Fool(Fuel) industry cohorts.

Therefore the only justice possible and attainable here will never originate from any of the capitalist courts which are now in a never-ending state of emergency and a mad race to out due each other with ever expanding arsenal of surveillance, repression and torture to protect the profits of their corporate masters. In a time of global ecological and social collapse the only justice that is possible is a justice attained by the struggle of resistance based on solidarity and unity of struggles such as the one in Rhineland, Standing Rock and countless others around the planet which are standing and fighting against the forces of greed, destruction and death.

In Solidarity with Standing Rock, and all others who are active in the Strugle….

In Keelbeek (Belgium) a new, huge prison is planned. Fortunately, there is also a lot of resistance to the project. Today this solidarity photo was taken on the meadow, with which we want to greet the occupants in Belgium. We wish you all – even more in the hard winter months – loads of power and perseverance!
