BURE IN SOLIDARITY WITH HAMBI READY FOR MASS ACTION 18.2.17

It has been over a year since on August 14,2016 the concrete walls of planned underground radiation storage facility CIGEO (runned by state-funded nuclear company Andra) have been breached and destroyed. Since then a hotbed of ecological antinuclear resistance has blossomed with the defended the Lejuc Forest filling with treehouses and many lines of barricade defenses with live in structures, with La maison de Resistance(The House of Resistance) functioning in the comune of Bure as a resource center housing hundreds of activists and functioning as a defacto cultural center of the movement.

The support and solidarity between the antinuclear and anticoal movement is a strong element of our struggle.

Especially, on the 18th February when a big mobilization against the CIGEO project will be held. It will include demonstration and actions in the direction of the Lejuc Wood, concerts in the evening, and call to an artistic insurrection calling Artists from all horizons, musicians of all kinds, come and make the liberated forest vibrate. Graffiti artists, acrobats, builders, theater people, puppeteers, fire breathers, dancers, pirate artists, painters or sculptors, and more, you are all invited to Bure to let your imagination run wild. Form is free, you can come few days before, with already prepared projects or to organize during the demonstration, performances in the trees, on the ground, in the air…

Compost Toilet Eviction Trial 14.03.2017 10:30

Toiletteviction

Düren District Court has now set the trial date for the hearing concerning the actions that took place during the Compost Toilet Eviction over 2 years ago.

Background: During Skill-Shares Camp of 2014 over 50 riot cops and several pieces of equipment from RWE entered the forest to clear barricades and remove the compost toilet. This action was blocked for many hours by activists locking themselves to the bulldozers, frontloaders and by climbing into the trees in front of advancing equipment. This trial is reflection of the current trend in the Rhineland of
pressing charges against activist who lock themselves to, or block the heavy equipment. It is an attempt to prevent them from engaging in future actions. For this reason lets not forget about those who are being prosecuted and express our solidarity in person and remotely.

Personal Controls have been announced for this trial, meaning that all persons and belonging will be searched and personal information taken in order to enter the courtroom. For those not willing to comply with this there will be the usual outside the courthouse support action with banners, food and info.

Info Barricades going up in the Forest

To the list of barricading options in the forest from wood piles, ditches, towers, tripods/skypods and sport and exercise structures a new one has been added: It is a rest point and an info board showing species inhabiting the Forest and on the other side having Hambi posters and events. It should also be a good way to know if secus have been to the forest as they are not able to resist the urge to vandalize any info they see posted about Hambacher Forest or Biodiversity, in which case we will send you updates of „before“ and „after“ photos as has been done with photos of spots in the forest and what the same area looks like clearcuted after RWE touches it with its destructive hand.

Call for Support: If any of you have any posters size prints showing bird, tree/plant or animal species of European Forests that you could share with us for the barricade info board project please send them to:

Prisoner Support Evening in the Meadow

Prisoner Support Evening at the Meadow

Last night an evening of letter writting to political, animal rights and ecological prisoners took place in the Roundhouse in the Meadow. We sent our warm greetings of solidarity to those who found themselves on the other side of the walls for fighting for a better world only to be repressed and isolated by the crooked justice serving the special interests of profit. That is why it is so important to remind as many prisoners as possible that they are not alone and to remember that solidarity is our weapon.

NEXT RED LINE ACTION: SUNDAY 19.2 12:00

RWE’s destruction of the Hambacher Forest and the emissions from its power plants and their impact on the climate and general health is too destructive to allow and as stated by official estimates, to continue into the 2020’s.

As a response once again a human red line will be made at the edge of the clear cutting of the forest to show the public opposition to this destruction and to express support for the Hambach Forest Occupation.
Please come wearing red, with red fabrics and signs and lets draw a human red line to send an urgent message of That is Enough!, Yo Basta, and No More.

Directions: The meeting point will be at 12:00 at Grilplatz Manheimer Burge on the country road heading straight North into the forest out of Buir’s Train station where you should have no problem following the crowd between 10:30-11:30.

For more info you can also contact Michael Zobel, the certified forest guide conducting the walk.

CALL FOR ANTI-REPRESSION RESPONSE

Such cases will only repeat themselves with greater regularity and intensity as RWE and other corporate barons carve out the Planet and local jurisdictions into their private domains and as the effect of their actions on the global climate and ecology is distracted by more and more militarized and violent police actions. Here an analogy of the struggle of Zapatistas comes to mind: In the 90s the Mexican State response to the Zapatistas Uprising was massacres of whole indigenous villages. In the Rhineland the forests are massacred outright, the people are moved away but the villages themselves are also destroyed by the bulldozers and wrecking balls. The carnage however of these actions is not just felt by local biodiversity but also already felt by millions affected by climate chaos world-wide and will take a heavy toll on future generations in the global north as well, presently shielded by their privilege.

Solidarity with Bure Anti-Nuke Waste Occupation

BureAs we walk through the Hambacher Forest with new defenses of barricades and ditches build after last friday’s RWE’s secus and police intrusion the news arrives that the same fossil fool monster greed fueled repression has been netted to our comrades in Bure who are resisting destruction of the forest to pave way for more extractionist madness and insanity in the form of nuclear fuel dump. Barricades cleared, secus, police road blocks all sounding so familiar like the all too familiar global destruction of habitats to extract every last bit of poison killing the ecosystems, communities and climate of the planet in the process of lining the pockets of the corporate robber barons.

Hence, to companieros in Bure and all on the receiving end of this assault who are on the barricades, in the treehouses tents and caravans fighting this monster of global capitalist extractionism a loud shout-out of solidarity reverberates from the Forest of Hambach to You.

SUNDAY 1PM CALL FOR SOLIDARITY SUPPORT ACTION AT THE MEADOW

Today less than 100 cops, secus and several pieces of heavy equipment destroyed all the barricades protecting now more than four tree-sit occupations defending the Hambacher Forest. As a response join the Hambi defenders for tea and food on Sunday as a show of support to those rebuilding the barricades. At 2pm a non-competive bike tea, coffee and yerba mate relay race will take place through the forest taking advantage of the resurfaced roads and making sure that a passage is left for pedestrian, bike and wheelchair access and that the barricades block vehicles only as was the case for the first 2 years of the occupation.

If you can not make it please repost this call

Images from this year’s cutting zone.

The art placed on the trees at the cutting line last year by students from the area can now be found on the ground in a place where an impromptu art gallery and an ecosystem has been turned into a wasteland by this cutting season.

Yet even now laying on the ground it serves as a marker in a terrain which feels disorienting as if one found themselves in ruins of bombed out ecological Hiroshima or Nagasaki not being even able to recodnize their own neighborhood until finding a small and yet so significant and symbolic detail that managed to survive and mark the place that once was and now only lives on in our memories and reminds of the importance of the struggle.

SNOWFALL IN THE FOREST

After several years of all time temperature record-breaking years it looks like this time the snow cover might stick around for more than 2-4 hours, helping all involved to stay out of the mud. „Thanks“ to RWE and other fossil climate killers long gone however are minimum 2 weeks to a month of snow present every winter in the region in the 70s and 80s. A distant memory just like if it was up to the local law enforcement and court system the Meadow Camp and protest camps in general would become as well.

The efforts to justify the removal of the Meadow Camp’s status and its future eviction continue with the disinformation campaign from the court in Munster, to which this case has been appealed, releasing an official statement that „There is no anti-coal propaganda in the Meadow Camp“. Several hundred pieces of literature on environmental, climate and social impact of coal mining displayed in the infoshop and throughout the Meadow are based on scientific impact studies and personal accounts which do not fit the definition of propaganda which is traditionally what the governments engages in, using mass media, threat of repression and serious bending of reality. The Court in Munstert in doing precisely that by using such wording showing its close connection to the fossil industry and RWE. Proving its total disregard of countless studies showing their impact on the local communities and the planet at large and then insulting and denying their existence all together. When such bias and disregard is present activism and direct action becomes once again the only course thatcan be undertaken.

When images like this become part of a remote past as climate chaos rages world-wide the only way those in power who are responsible will continue this charade will be by distracting the populace with paranoia not just towards immigrants but also towards activists in general. For this reason many appeals have gone out and continue to do so to prepare for the coming Day X of planned eviction in the Meadow and/or in the Forest by offering solidarity actions and places to decompress for those involved. After all the proverbial Day X is not something that is awaited or that is coming in the future but something that is already happening world wide to countless species and humans affected by extractionism and extreme energy.

NODAPL Water Defeners Under Constant Attack

This Monday 1.17 another confrontation has taken place between Water Defenders opposing the North Dakota Access Pipeline and the cops. Rubber encased steel bullets were fired injuring several activists, tear gas was used and 14 activists were arrested. Barbed wire was removed formed into frisbies and thrown back at the cops.Several hour long standoff continued on the Backwater Bridge separating the protesters from the pipeline construction site. The pigs continued to shoot down any drones that were not their own. This repression is taking place while the Republican controlled state assembly of North Dakota is attempting to pass a new law that would make it legal to injure and even kill any pedestrians blocking a road while driving a car. This is obviously directed against Water Defenders who like many ecological activists often blockade roadways and who already have been hit and injured by idiots driving snow mobiles around the protest site. This new law would in effect allow any racist pig-headed vigilante to turn his already destructive and deadly vehicle into even deadlier and now even state sanctioned weapon. This brings up parallels of RWE’s secus also using a truck to ram, injure and then arrest a Hambi activist also with full sanction and approval of the state. Water Defenders are also currently facing Grand Juries forcing them to testify and list their comrades under a threat of imprisonment if they refuse. Regardless many have chosen not to cooperate. This resembles the cases of house searches, home visits and questioning by the german cops as experienced on many occasions by those involved in the anti-coal struggle in the Rhineland. Both are not even as much attempts to persecute as they are tools to intimidate and silence especially in the case of Water Defenders who are facing grand juries in cases dealing with repressive police tactics and their use of force resulting in activist’s injuries. The parallels and similiarities between the two movements come to an end however when one takes into account that none of us in the Rhineland has had to dealt with 400 years of colonialism, genocide and continuing state sanctioned racism and exploitation and its aftermath, 4-5 to 11 years maybe but not 400. Neither are any of us eposed to daily barages of rubber bullets, armored personell carriers and water cannons in freezing weather. In the case of Rhineland and RWE in particular the bullets _are_ flying but they are being shot by right wing hit squads aka crooked cops in places like Columbia against those who refuse to move from their homes to make way for RWE’s coal mines there, the gas is not tear gas but giga-tons of climate killing carbon affecting the global poor in the south of the planet the most, oh yeah there is even freezing water involved as well as antarctic ice shelves turn into mush and slide into the ocean and as the northern ice cover diminishes to the lowest levels ever recorded. Flooding hundreds of millions in Bangladesh, through out the Indian Ocean and beyond. Proving that RWE is just as racist and reactionary in its modus operandi as the rest of its Fossil Fool(Fuel) industry cohorts.

Therefore the only justice possible and attainable here will never originate from any of the capitalist courts which are now in a never-ending state of emergency and a mad race to out due each other with ever expanding arsenal of surveillance, repression and torture to protect the profits of their corporate masters. In a time of global ecological and social collapse the only justice that is possible is a justice attained by the struggle of resistance based on solidarity and unity of struggles such as the one in Rhineland, Standing Rock and countless others around the planet which are standing and fighting against the forces of greed, destruction and death.

In Solidarity with Standing Rock, and all others who are active in the Strugle….
