Freedom for Jus

Freedom for Jus, defend the Hambach Forest!

We received the following mail.

„Freedom for Jus – Solidarity from Nijmegen (The Netherlands)

On Friday September 18th we organized an EarthFirst! benefit party in De Onderbroek, Nijmegen. During the evening different bands performed and there were info stalls which included eco/anarcho prisoner support, GroenFront! (Dutch EarthFirst) and the Anarchist Group Nijmegen. During the show we raised awareness about the struggle at the Hambach Forest and the imprisonment of Jus. There was also the possibility to write to him on this evening.

Let’s fight together, for the destruction of this prison society and to help remind our comrades they’re never alone!“

We received this invitation by email:

“ENDE GELÄNDE in August was the biggest civil disobedience action of the climate movement. 1,500 people occupied the coal mine Garzweiler. Many participated for the first time to such an action. Despite massive violence and threat of repression from police and RWE, we could not be stopped and we halted the excavators. In addition, ENDE GELÄNDE brought the conflict between climate protection and coal mining back into the national media. For many, this was a challenging but also encouraging experience that leaves you wanting more! (more…)

Letter from Jus

„Comrades ! Sept. 21 Köln

Having been detained now for 60 days for blockading the expansion of the largest lignite extreme energy mine in Europe and it’s largest CO2 emitter causing not just the destruction of the forest I was & am protecting but also massive social and ecological injustices to those suffering from its effects in the global south.
I have staged a 23-day hunger strike and continued Fri.-Sun. no food hunger strikes with no water on Sat.-Sun. to bring attention to climate injustice and repression against ecological and political activists. During my actions I’ve had food thrown and kicked into my cell, lights being turned on and off throughout the night, medical staff threatening me with force feeding shutting the door in my face and insisting that I sign forms in German that I could not read, not providing translations, with comments being made on 20+ day of hunger strike that’s that there should be work (?!) in jail. Sept. 24 2015 The Court of Appeal in Tamatave ordered on September 23, the release of Armand Marozafy. Armand left prison far too late. Too late, because he sat five months instead of 4 to which he was sentenced. Too late, mainly because he had no business being in prison! The mobilization for the tropical forests of Madagascar continues.

NRW-carbon exit 2030: direction OK, timing continues to endanger health and climate

The Greens celebrate Hannelore Kraft as the gravedigger of lignite, but RWE remains the gravedigger of the Rhineland. Implemented are only the slack demands of the carbon chain of Greenpeace , TG and B.U.N.D..

According to the Energy Watch Group, the International Energy Agency (IEA) publishes since years wrong data and projections on the potential of renewable enegies (Frankfurter Rundschau).

Although wind power and photovoltaics have grown exponentially in recent decades, the IEA continues to assume a linear growth of these technologies, and therefore a constant annual installation of new systems. So they predict for the renewable energies only a 14 percent share of the global energy supply by 2030. In fact, according to critics, 60 percent are rather realistic when applying the average growth rates of the past 20 years.

In addition, Greenpeace assumes 100% until 2050.

Madagascar: freedom for the environmentalist Armand Marozafy

For years, a handful of tropical timber traders are plundering unscrupulous the rainforests of Madagascar, the EIA environmental organization reports. Even in face of national parks that are declared World Heritage by UNESCO, the loggers do not stop.

Unist’ot’en against Chevron and Enbridge

Sovereignty, self-sufficiency, self-determination.

The Unis’tot’en (C’ihlts’ehkhyu / Big Frog Clan) in Canada defend their country against Enbridge, Pacific Trails Pipeline (Chevron), Tar Sands Gigaproject and LNG. “Wet’suwet’en territory, which extends from Burns Lake to the Coastal Mountains, is sovereign territory which has never been ceded to the colonial Canadian state; the Wet’suwet’en are not under treaty with the Canadian government. Their territory, therefore, is and always will be free, and belongs to the Wet’suwet’en people alone.” They just defend their own country.
Since 2009, the Unist’ot’en clan of the Wet’suwet’en hold a permanent community in the way of three approved projects: Northern Gateway (6.1 billion $) of Enbridge, Pacific Trail Pipeline (1.15 billion $) of Chevron and Coastal GasLink (3.7 billion $) of Trans Canada. These pipeline projects were planned through the territory of the Wet’suwet’en. Since the early 19th century the Canadian government tries to expell the Indigenous, who defend themselves by all possible means against it.

Wolność dla Jus!
Jus to nasz przyjaciel i aktywista aresztowany podczas sierpniowej akcji skierowanej przeciwko kopalni odkrywkowej w Hambacher Forst w Niemczech. Fota to nasz skromny wyraz solidarności i pamięci. Wolność dla wszystkich!

Freedom for Jus!
Jus is our friend and activist arrested during the February action against the open pit mine in Hambach Forest, Germany. Fota (?) is our modest memory and solidarity. Freedom for all!
Instead of minutes of silence, a lifetime in the fight!

Climate justice also means:
Refugees are Welcome!

Germany 2015. The extreme right groups “Concerned citizens”, Nazis, Pegida and AfD stir up public opinion against refugees, demonstrate in front of refugee domiciles and almost every day accommodation for refugees is attacked, so far mostly uninhabited, but buildings, where already people lived in, have been attacked too. Representatives of the governing parties CDU and SPD refer to these people as “rabble” and condemn their movements verbally, while they on the one hand hardly ensure the protection of the refugees (in Heidenau they sent only 136 cops to protect the refugees against more than 1,000 right-wingers) and on the other hand they even meet the demands of these right movements by worsening the lives of refugees massively (re-tightening of the residence obligation, food parcels instead of cash payments), by declaring more and more countries “safe third countries” (primarily Balkan countries where Roma are exposed to even more massive discrimination than anywhere else) and now by closing the borders with Austria and Denmark again and reintroducing border controls.

Why cooperate?

A statement on the refusal to identify oneself

Source:, german
In most writings on demonstrations and blockades and in many groups (eg Rote Hilfe) it is considered obvious that we identify ourselves when members of police or army want us to do so. It seems impossible to do otherwise. Some reasons why some people continue to resist to it anyway, are explained in the following text, with some tips and tricks. You also learn more about the legal situation in Germany. This text is based on individual experiences. Many others may have different experiences, feelings or opinions. This is a section of a subject which for now is not very common. (more…)

Farewell to the silence

One year after the opening of highway A4

Buir: “Farewell to the silence – one year after the opening of highway A4”

On September 16, 2014, the new route of the A4 was officially inaugurated. At the invitation of the action group “Buirers for Buir”, on the evening before a farewell to the silence took place as a neighborhood meeting. It should be remembered this year with a neighborhood church service, followed by a picnic on the evening of 15 September.
It is one year ago now, that on the eve of the A4 inauguration members of the action group, along with many neighbors and friends from the lignite-critical network, said farewell to the silence in Buir on the Olbertze Bridge. With “Farewell to the silence – One Year After” should be reminded of the event one year ago. (more…)
